We’ve missed you, John Mayer!
The 39-year-old crooner has taken a bit of a hiatus as he finishes up his next album, The Search For Everything, due out April 14. But in a new interview with The New York Times, the Gravity singer is opening up about the inspiration behind his new songs — and being ready to settle down.
And he totally realizes that was going to be every outlet’s next headline, as he said:
“Who else would I be thinking about? And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”
“I still keep your shampoo in my shower/In case you wanna wash your hair
And I know that you probably found yourself someone somewhere/But I do not really care
‘Cause as long as it is there/ I still feel like your man”
And while the project began as a breakup album, the former bad boy said that it’s become “something more profound”:
“There were times when tears came out of me, and I went, O.K., John, this is not about an on-again, off-again relationship. This is something more profound.”
He went on to reveal that the time has come for him to settle down or, as he calls it, “the final frontier”:
“I wish there was somebody to throw me the 40th. I want the baby with the protective earphones … I’m right on time for my career, and I’m running late for my life.”
The Daughters songwriter has been trying his hand at an exclusive dating app, but he doesn’t seem to be having much luck:
“It’s just lot of chatter. We all talk to the same people. There are very few people actually meeting up.”
We’ll swipe right, John! Just give us a ring!
